Picnic, Family & Fun

Sorry that this post is a little late this week, it’s actually a good thing really – it means we’ve been busy!
Let’s see…it’s been such a full 10 or so days for us, it’s hard to know where to start. Emma had her first picnic early last week. Traci came by the office and picked me up for lunch. We spent a good hour in a nearby park just relaxing and enjoying each other’s company, something that we don’t really get to do to much of anymore – kind of sad actually. Anyway, Emma had her lunch too and seemed to love being outside with all the grass, bugs and sun. She enjoyed watching the children play nearby and even had a close shave with a black lab – I think she’s going to be a dog person judging by her positive reaction, (at least I hope so).
Later that week, beginning Wednesday I think, family started to come in to town to join us for the regional youth celebration that Debi has spent the past year-and-a-half or so preparing for. Grandma and Grandpa Warnick, Justin and Kim were all here by Friday. It was the first time Grandma and Grandpa had met Emma and she took to them immediately. It was so nice to all be together for the weekend creating such good memories.

The Regional Youth Celebration! What an amazing production. Debi and her crew did such a good job in organizing some 600 youth from 4 stakes, and executing four 2 hour shows on Saturday with only 2 days (well, one day really: Friday evening and Saturday morning) to run through the program with the entire cast. The dancing and acting was really good (Medford Stake – especially the 6th ward - being the best, of course :) and the Spirit was so strong. Good job Debi! We know you put a great deal of blood, sweat and tears into this production. It definitely paid off!
Sunday was a nice relaxing day spent with the family and friends followed by Monday which saw me back at work :( The day wasn’t entirely that bad though as we (Jim, Justin, Traci and myself) got to finish it off with a round of golf. The most amazing news of the week… are you ready… Traci beat me by 2 strokes! Can you believe it!? She birdied the 9th with a 50 or so foot put. That’s my wife! Enjoy the sweet taste of victory while you can Trace ‘cause I won’t let it happen again :)
Some more momentous news: Emma’s back on solids! Last attempt we tried her on rice cereal and she did not like it at all. This time round we opted for bananas and they were and instant hit. She’s now only just big enough to sit in her high chair – her little feet not even sticking out of the bottom. She’s such a cute kid, inside and out! It’s so easy to love her. We’re so lucky to be her parents!
Well, we’ve unwillingly slipped back into our day-to-day routine over the past couple of days. Not that we dislike our lives or anything, it was just really nice to be around so much of our family and enjoy so many good activities together. Now we look forward to our Eagar family reunion the end of July – it’s kind of our “carrot and the end of stick” if you will.
I think that’s all for now. Love you guys.
Till next time…

I'm so glad you are recording the Emma Events and Experiences. It is too easy to move on and forget how special every "first-time" is. I hope you never stop! Thanks. Mom Eagar alias Nana

I love the way you write Mark. I think I've said that before but when I read, I can hear your voice and your humor as if it were coming from your own mouth to me. Very nice touch seeing as how we only get to see you guys what? once every 2 years so far?! :) Sounds like a very fun time with family. I know what you mean about having so much going on that is so fun and busy and then normal life slides back in and it's a bit of a letdown sometimes. Just a lack of excitement I guess but life is great! Great post!
