Happy Birthday Emma!

Yesterday we celebrated Emma's second birthday. We naturally went with a princess theme for the entire day - which she couldn't get enough of. Traci did a really good job in preparing everything and making Emma feel like genuine "royalty"on her special day.

Emma's day began when she woke up to streamers decorating the living room, topped by a banner reading "Happy Birthday Emma" above our window. As a result, most of the day was spent by Emma reading: "E...M...M...A... Emma!" It was followed by our ward's Christmas party/breakfast, at which Emma was lucky enough to sit on Santa's lap. She reminded Santa (as she's already mentioned this to him once before) that she has been a good girl this year, and that she wants a "snowman and candy" for Christmas. The party was followed by some shopping and a nap, after which we went down to the multipurpose building just next door in which we held her party. Traci made her a princess crown, and we dressed her in what Emma calls her "princess dress". Traci made a beautiful cake, which Emma and all her friends enjoyed inhaling.
Emma's party was followed by a quick trip to the play place at McDonald's (she has an obsession with slides, so she flipped out when she saw the bi-level play-place), and then off to bed.
It was also quite a monumental day for Emma, as she spent her first night in her "big-girls' bed".
We also enjoyed the season's first real snowfall (about 3-4 inches) which Emma and I were extremely excited about! However, Emma's admiration was from afar, as she loved to look at it, but not actually touch or walk in it.
