We're Back!

Unfortunately our computer is still acting up. Our lives have been pretty full over the past few weeks which has caused the act of sorting our computer out to drop to the bottom of our “to do” list. Hopefully we’ll get it done soon now that things are beginning to slow down a little.
First things first: Congratulations Jim and Debi on completing the 26 grueling miles that is the St. George marathon! What an accomplishment! It has been a true learning experience to watch you as you have trained for and completed this amazing fete. One day, when I grow up I want to be just like you guys.
Perhaps the best news of all, at least for me is that I won’t have to look at another math problem for a long time - my preparation for the GRE (grad school entrance exam) is finally over. I took the test on the 5th of this month and am pleased with the results. The next step now is to get my application in and hope for the best. If all goes according to plan, we will be in Provo next fall for the start of the MPH (master in public health) program.

Emma is doing really good. She is growing up so fast! We really can’t believe how quickly she is turning into a “real” little girl. She’s sprouting teeth like it’s going out of fashion; she’s constantly scooting around and pulling herself up on anything within reach; she also thinks that she can walk, which calls for our constant attention and is keeping us extremely busy, (especially her mom). She is also in the beginning stages of using the signs we’ve been teaching her over the past two or three months now to communicate. Just the other day she signed that she wanted more when Traci was feeding her. I can’t believe that she is already 10 months old - soon we’ll be celebrating her first birthday! It’s amazing how time flies.
Well, we are getting more and more excited as Christmas gets closer and closer. We are going to be lucky enough to spend this Christmas with the Spires family over in England. It’s less than two months away now and we can’t stand the anticipation anymore. This will be the first time that we (the Spires family) have been together in about 7/8 years now. We have a lot of exciting things planned including a four night stay in a Welsh cottage, a brief trip to Scotland to visit a family friend and play a couple of rounds at the Old Course at St. Andrews and Carnoustie, and much, much more. We can’t wait to see you guys!
That's it for now. Till next time...

Way to go Mark on your GRE I'm sure that is a huge relief. sorry we didn't hook up with you guys while in Seattle. I didn't realize it was 8 hours until you told us. We just made a quick trip flew in on Saturday and out on Monday. Too short for all the effort, but it was fun anyways. Emma really is getting to be such a big girl, how fun. Glad your back!
